Hello everyone,
I need some urgent help, I'm have a problem with a Word document that needs to be bound with my dissertation by 5pm today. Argh!
We were given a cover sheet to put on the front of our dissertation by the university. It's a Word document but it seems to be locked. I'm able to type my details into the boxes (not normal text boxes) but that's it. Can't change font size, box size, nothing.
My problem is that my dissertation has a stupidly long title and it doesn't fit the box! The bottom half of my last line is chopped off. Does anybody have any idea what I can do?
I've tried copy and pasting the university crest etc into my own Word document to make my own but it won't let me do that either and I'm going to cry in a minute   Can anybody help?
Thanks in advance

Oh no there is a password. Poo. Is there anything I can do?
I don't know why they've locked it, don't they trust us to write our name in a box?! :rolleyes:Total abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself. Oscar Wilde0 -
Shame its password protected........ suppose you could always print itoff and write on it, not the point though....... dont suppose you could open up another blank word document, write what you need in a smaller font..... copy and then paste it to the sheet you are working on....
worth a try
I have nothing better to do!!!!

Probably too late now, but easiest way would be to print the cover sheet with no title, then create another doc with just the title in the right place on the page, and then print that over the top of the cover sheet (i.e. pass it a second time through the printer).0

Oh good idea! Except I can't get into the printer because it's locked up (i'm in the uni Library) but I can do it with a photocopier! Open the document then "save as" and when you get the save dialog box, click on Tools, Security Options and make sure all the passwords are removed.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Why not type the title in the box that fits and thne type the rest into a text box that you've added to the page?
I think any method described here for removing a password will be useless - otherwise the password itself could be easily bypassed.
I think you could also leave the title blank when it prompts you and put your entire title in the text box you make.
Hope I'm not too late with this!!!
