Sam4s till

Hello all

This is a long shot, I have a sam4s ER 380M till register. I wanted to know how to add barcodes in it. I have had the memory upgraded and have just bought a scanner.

Neither of the manuals gives details on how to do this.

Thanks

    Get a manual.
get a serial cable from your PC to the till.
fire up hyperterminal and play about
see if they have a piece of dedicated software

    Software Option
Add 380PC Windows software on CD-ROM and 3 metre Serial cable
(PC to EE-380M).The software enables you to make programme change to the ER-380, e.g. set-up PLU items, link to Groups, change Group names, Set-up receipt details including downloading Graphic LOGO bitmaps. (free delivery with till purchase; normal delivery price £1.00+VAT post and packing)

    for example
  • I have setup the PLU's but I wanted to know how to get the barcodes in the till.

The barcode is decoded by a barcode reader into numbers.

You plug the scanner in, scan the barcode and the till looks this up on its database and put the price on the screen, adds it to the total and prints and other line on the receipt.

Are your PLU's different from the barcodes? Does the barcode reader scan? Does it beep but then the red light flash and a few more beeps?

Most scanners need configuring. There will be a booklet (or CD manual) with barcodes on, these will do things like "restore defaults", "enable Int 2/5", "disable EAN13", "Enable keyboard wedge mode".

What are we talking, scanner doesn't beep when reading barcode.
scanner beeps but nothing appears and then more beeps heard?
Scanner beeps once, green lights but lookup doesnt woek?

Basically the scanner is setup, it bleeps everytime I scan. There are no barcodes in the till so when I scan it beeps but the till doesn't register anything.

I was told that I need to scan every item in my shop into the tills memory.

I think you need the manual, I can give generic help as I have a some experience with a variety of systems used on a slightly larger scale.

Sounds like you know what you want to do but need the how.

Some systems have an alias option to link a barcode to a PLU, effectively giving the product two codes.

    Good luck.
  • right all done and working.

    Next question:

I have scanned everything in the shop, is there a quicker way to tie the barcode to the product?

I mean, for example 123456 relates to mar bar. I can type it in manually on the cash register but it will take ages.

    Thanks
