Price changes... check your bills!

There will no doubt be many people who switched suppliers as a result of the recent energy price rises. You may or may not know that many companies (I don't know if all of them) have a term in the contract which says

If we increase our prices or reduce our discounts, we will tell you within 65 Working Days. If you do not accept the changes, you may end this agreement by changing supplier. The changes will not apply to you if within 10 Working Days of being told about the changes, you tell us that you are ending the agreement, and within the next 15 Working Days we receive notice through industry processes that another supplier will begin to supply your home within a reasonable period of time.

I recently switched from npower to Scottish Power as a result of the price rises and... surprise, surprise, they 'forgot' that the higher price would not apply when the final bill came in.

So, if you're in this situation... CHECK YOUR BILL. The difference in my case was £20 on gas alone, so it's worth doing.
