dont think things could get any lower.
at least i now know why i havent had any WFTC since the begin of march, though im not impressed its taken them this long to write to me and tell me of the compliance check.
my housing association are taking me to court over unpaid rent, ive been on IS since begin of march also and the benefit havent paid my rent.
despite me phoning both housing assoc to advise them of my situation and chasing up benefits they decide to slap a court order on me.
im crapping it over the compliance check, i dont really understand what they are for or about and im worried ill get chucked out of my house, ive never been in this situation before and its very frightening, surely they wont throw me out cos i have 2 severely disabled children and where are we going to live?
if anyone has any advice id really appreciate it.
thanks

Saturday isn't the best day to get help but Monday get in touch with your local CAB and welfare rights office. Shelter too for housing rights. One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Phone the council HB section on monday, tell them you have an eviction notice due to non-payment of rent and ask what they are going to do about it.
They *should* get something sorted with the HA to prevent it, assuming you have provided all necessary info etc to them.
HAs will often follow through the eviction process to force the HB to sort out the claim.0 -
Is it just since you've been on income support that you haven't paid any rent, or has this been going on for a while?0

its just since i went on income support that i stopped paying the rent, i actually still paid the first week i went on IB.
ive sent all the relevant info to the housing office over a week ago, they took 4 weeks to confirm they had received my form despite me sending it off immediately.
my income support has gone through straightaway and i reclaimed for my husband as he lost his job and that only took a week with IS,i also signed something allowing housing benefit to discuss my rent and where they are up to with my HA so i dont understand what the hold up is, could it have anything to do with the compliance officer? although the letter from him is addressed to me only and not my husband.0 -
Gosh, they've acted quickly!
Definitely visit the CAB asap.
Have you put things in writing? I think I'd be writing rather than phoning at this stage, but don't post them; take them in and ask them to give you a receipt.
Other thing is, don't assume one will tell the other what is going on, whatever you have signed. It is left up to you to get information form the one and pass it on to the other.
I'm sure it was on here that someone ended up having their house repossessed through thinking the council, HA and court would communicate with each other!
Tbh though, I thought they had to send several different notifications etc before they can get close to actually repossessing your home?
The CAB will advise you anyway. Also contact your MP if it drags on or starts to look worse for you.0 -
Ask HB to make an interim award on monday. Ask them to hpone HA and tell them, when a payment on this award will be made.
Ask Hb to confirm that this will be done, and ask for the name of the person you speak to.
If it's not sorted, post back on monday afternoon.0 -
Have you actually got a court date or have you got a 'Notice Seeking Possession' which says that they can take court action after x date?
Your Housing Association cannot take you to court for rent arrears without serving the notice above so if they are then there procedure is incorrect and thus invalid.
Usually HA and council's will send NSP's to protect themselves in the event that your HB does not pay out and also so that they can be seen to be doing something once the arrears are at a certain level.

When you applied for IS & IB did you also claim for help with your rent and council tax? (Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit)
As you are now receiving IS you should be eligible for most (if not all) of your rent paid - but only (as far as I am aware!) if you have made a claim for HB & CTB.0
