Hey hey! I usually post answers to these types of questions, but i've actually got a serious problem here :O lol
Well, anyway, my motherboard has onboard sound (which i disabled in the bios but didnt fix the problem). I also have a Trust (cmedia chip) 8738 5.1 optical digital surround dolby sound card...
All updated drivers tested as well as earlier ones....
The problem is, RANDOMLY (not often), when I either play a song on the computer or start up an online game, the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH will appear telling me about a driver irql being not less or equal notifying me of the conflict with the file cmaudio.sys
Now this file is definietly part of the driver for my pci sound card, but what on earth can it be conflicting with as the pc doesnt see the motherboards sound card to exist and there is no other sounds devices there....
Any ideas? Ive tried a lot but no luck :x
There are also no motherborad jumpers on my msi neo-2 p785 (think thats model number) to disable sound card through hardware.
Cheers

Is there an option in the BIOS to change the IRQ for the on board sound or better still, disable it all together?0

Good explanation of Windows XP stop codes (including the one you are getting) can be found here - http://www.updatexp.com/stop-messages.html0

Vultura, thanks for the research but I already know that. I need a way of fixing it, not understanding what it is!
The sound card works so its not a malfunctioning device. Must be a driver/irq conflict yet ive tried/testing these so can't see the prob.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
