Sorry to be a pain but the above player is sold as being multi regional but I'm only getting region One in black and white.
Can't seem to find an adjustment setting on the controls.
Does it need unlocking and if, so, what is the best way please?
Kind regards to all.

here is a review i found on amazon :-
Hi. Some places are saying this player is multi-region, when in fact it is not!
I found A site, where you can do it with an one for all remote control.
I used a Kameleon URC-8040, and it worked fine.
The code should work with most Sony DVP series.
This was done with a standard 0ne4All remote however, this hack will only work if you have a 'DVD' button on the remote. (I used URC-7730)
1.Turn off the DVD player. (The DVP-NS76H has no standby mode, so will turn itself off completely)
2.Select 'DVD' device on remote.
3.Hold 'MAGIC' button until red light blinks twice.
4.Enter the Sony device code 0533. The remote will now be able to control the DVD player.
5.Now you have to program buttons 1 to 5 with the following codes:(These codes will override the chip in the DVD player making it Multi-region)
1)00189
2)00255
3)00095
4)00221
5)00079
4.Firstly Hold 'MAGIC' button until red light blinks twice.
5.Type 994. (This will tell the controller you are programming individual buttons)The red light blinks twice again.
6.Press 'MAGIC' again. The red light will blink once
7.Enter one of the 5 digit codes from above followed by the button number you are assaining it to(eg MAGIC + 00189 + 1) The red light blinks twice.
8.NB. YOU MUST REPEAT STEP 4-6 BEFORE YOU TYPE IN EVERY CODE .
9.After all codes have been entered (1-5), with the DVD player off, Press 1,2,3,4,5 on the One4All remote and the DVD player should start up and the word "SUCCESS" scrolls along the display window.
10.I didn't have to but you can Press 1,2,3,4,5 - and the player shuts down and now works fine on any region code!
NB.Some older One4All remotes may accept only three codes: in that case remove the two leading 00's.
Thanks To Sloth
Dvd player works fine, plays all stuff I sling at it.
Hope this Thred was useful.
here is the link to the page, the review is at the bottom, HTH DaveTake every day as it comes!!0 -
It sounds like although the player can play region 1 disc, the tv does not support ntsc (US tv standard). There may be an option to set the player to PAL only.
Most players have an option to choose the output from PAL, NTSC and Auto. Auto normally changes the output depending on the disc.0 -

by the review i posted, it seems the player is advertised as multiregional straight out of the box, when in reality it may not bem if the o/p puts in the code in my post and it still wont play then you may be correct.Take every day as it comes!!0 -

But being multiregional is a separate issue to the TV being able to display NTSC as well as PAL. And I agree with ssjx, in my experience the symptoms sound exactly like it's a problem of the TV not being able to display NTSC. If there was a problem with the DVD player not being able to play Region 1 then you wouldn't get any picture at all or the ability to play the disc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

sorry i did not read the post correctly, i was reading the colour thing as the colour of the player, not the colour of the film playing, agree if the disk is playing then it must be a setting problem rather than it being multiregionalTake every day as it comes!!0

What we need to know is the make/model of the OP's TV, but I suspect that it simply cannot display NTSC and there's not much to be done about that without replacing the TV."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

...for the time and trouble in providing the help above.
I've subsequently invested in one of those 4 in 1 remotes but it doesn't seem to have a 'magic' button marked as such.
I can confirm that the tv WILL play NTSC as I previously hacked a really cheapo DVD player and this worked.
But again. Many thanks to all.:beer:0
