Don't you find it a bit inconsiderate to the existing employees, when having a 'Gone in to administration' notice, and above you have the Careers banner with the wording "Looking for a brighter future....."?
Not a great sign that the company was well run......0 -
All the pre-administration sale stock has an extra 50% off the current sale price. Plenty of bargains to be had0

Great shop for bargain toiletries and cosmetics.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

I've hardly ever been in Ethel Austin because they (well in Derbyshire anyway) always seem to be located in quite small market towns without many other shops. Here in Derby for e.g, the nearest one is over 10 miles away (Heanor) so the petrol cost outweighs the bargains you'll be getting. It'd be ok if there were lots of other shops to make it worthwhile going but (apart from the nice big Home Bargains
) there isn't a whole lot more.
I guess that City Centre rates are OTT, but IMO it still would have made better business sense to have had a branch in one of the larger towns around here like Burton, Long Eaton etc. You know - the places with large supermarkets and well known chains of shops etc. Although, there may be branches in other cities - I'm not sure of that, but if there had been one in Derby or Burton I can guarantee it'd be popular.
That said, on the odd occasion that I have been in, I have had some good bargains and I hope they can keep afloat. I also noted that bit about advertising for jobs whilst in administration - that's really bad and very insensitive to the poor staff who are losing their jobs.0 -
Ooh, I hope they don't close our store. They do lovely kids clothes and well priced too. Better pop in later.:www: :: MFi3 ::

Hi,
In my local Ethel Austin they have massive signs stating 50% of all ladies clothing. My friend picked up a bathing costume but unfortunately this didn't come under the 50%, nor did the underwear or nightwear. Its a joke. Sally0 -
Yes,I noticed the underwear and nightwear etc didn't come under this a few weeks ago.0

Ladies Outwear, not Nightwear, Underwear or Swimwear as far as I know.0
