Plasma is better/brighter/costs more/picture can be better. You may need to improve the signal from the aerial, deffo needs an outdoor type. What inputs do you need, HDMI, PC? For a second tv in the bedroom you may get away with it, various colours. Look at Pioneer, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sony in that order.
  • don't look at LG and def not above Sony

from the 100`s of posts on this board regarding this matter, general concensus seems to be 40" and bigger plasma is the way to go, anything under you are better off with a lcd as you wont be able to tell that much difference
Take every day as it comes!!
  • for under 40" TV suggest you go for LCD, for over especially if you watch Sport or fast action movies / games Plasma may be better. For 40" plus would suggest Panasonic.

Best place for independent advice and bargains is Richer Sounds. Also try an AV Forum for online detail (although some can be very techno /nerd speak!)
Personally I have 42" Panasonic Panel (has separate amplifer / speakers to run all the extras through). Hope this helps

First of all work out what your viewing distance is, and the room and where your going to put the new set, if your viewing distance is less than 6 feet and you have a cramped front room a 40 or 42 inch will be too big, the reason being modern Plasma/LCD sets will show up a close range a lot of inperfections of Standard Definition programmes, so a bigger viewing distance is required. If you like sport/movies I would without doubt recommend a Plasma and would tend to go with those regardless. The set I would go for would be a Panasonic TH37 PX80 or 70. These sets are very highly rated in forums/magazines for picture quality and the 70 model has now een superceeded by the 80 model so 70s (if you can get one) will be cheap. The set is a belter, is SD performance is great and HD is amazing. One more piece of advise is NEVER go on what it looks like in the store as they under the bright lights have the sets on a dynamic setting that looks horrid when back in the real world of your front room. NEVER get hung up on stats like resolution/contrast, search the AV Forums and you will get a good feel for real world performance.
