Hi,
A friend has a problem:
If she knows that she's going to go overdrawn - too much month, too little money - and she tells the bank will they still send her a "you're overdrawn and owe use £20 for telling you " letter.
Also one of the payments that will send her overdrawn is to the bank itself. She has asked them if they will move the payment date but they refuse. Shouldn't they be more proactive about preventing their customer getting into debt ??
Thanks for any help given,
Sandie

Sandie,
I suggests she goes and talks to a real member of staff and arranges a small overdraft to avoid paying the £20. It soulds like your friend may need to go on a 'money diet' to ensure there is enough left to pay payments as they become due.
Remember bank customers only get into debt if they spend or borrow more than the income they have coming in. Banks can't exactly be blamed for that, although I think access to credit is too easy.
As for changing payment, there is probably a good systems reason why they cannot do this. I'm sure they will arrange a small overdraft facility to avoid your friend incurring £20 in fees month after month.
Good luck.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
