Ceiling paper coming unstuck

Our ceiling paper appears to be coming unstuck along the edges where the pieces are butted up to each other, probably hubby didn't put enough paste on the edges, and it's giving the impression that there's a bit of a gap.
Is there anything he can do to re-stick them? Border adhesive or ordinary wallpaper adhesive? How does he get it in such a little gap without making an almighty mess? And, of course, he doesn't really want to repaint the ceiling!

Border adhesive in a tube should do it. He'll have to be really good at applying it if he doesn't want to repaint!!0
