Paying Barclaycard at Barlcays Bank Query

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem, an if anyone knows if it is right.
I went into my local branch of Barclays to pay off my Barclaycard bill (as i do every month). I normally do it in the mornings but this time I was in the bank just after 4.00pm.
I paid cash on the 17th April at 4.10pm, but was told by the teller that as it was after 4.00pm they have to stamp my payment as being made on the 18th...therefore making my payment late and possibly incurring a charge.
Does this seem right?? I could understand if I was paying by cheque, but it was cash and to its own credit card as well!!!

You are paying a paper based statement so any payment might be marked as late if paid on or near the due date.
Why not set up a direct debit to pay the bill or set it up as a bill payment with your internet bank.
It makes no odds if you pay by cheque or cash.
After May 27 an internet or phone bank payment will only take a few hours - paying over a bank counter using a statement will take days.0 -

That's what it says in their T&Cs. This is quite normal with most banks.
Why not use online banking instead? Or, register to manage your Barclaycard online - that way your payment is processed as soon as you pay on the Barclaycard website.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
