Visa debit card cover

Have bought Oasis air tickets with Halifax Visa Debit Card just four days before its liquidation. I wonder if there is any regulations protecting purchases using Visa Debit Card.

None under section 75 of the Consumer credit act, although you might get somewhere by initiating a chargeback, contact Halifax and see.
Legally they do not have to pay out.

I have subsequently sought confirmation from Visa International that its debit card holders can request refund from issuing banks. So I then contacted Halifax's card centre several times, and got a full refund after about four weeks. Must add that staff in the branches as well as the card centre are not aware of debit card holders' rights. I had to explain, be persistent and assertive to get my money back. The customer services team has been very helpful though, relating messages between myself and the subject officer(s) (Link & Debit Department) who had refused to talk to me direct.

I also want to mention that BBC's Working Lunch programme had also recently featured similar incidents stating debit card users can get refunds.
