Electronic insect deterrents, any good?

I am sick and tired of ants in my house, they've been here since the start of the year now, way earlier than normal. Powder and Nippon's having no effect so I was thinking of getting one of those plug in insect repellers like this. However I'm loathe to spend £25 if they're useless.
So does anyone have any experience with them and if so can you recommend a decent one?
Thanks very much.

My experience of electronic gadgets has not been very good. Our home has been invaded by mice due to some under ground work. Bought these ultrasound things from QVC and expected the mice to be gone by the morning.
To my horror, they were jumping across these devices and using its light to have a party. Absolutely useless.

Have you considered 'Deathlac' it's really quite effective for ants... we've never found the electronic devices any good, but they were tested under extreme conditions whilst caravanning...0

I also would love someone to recommend something effective for ants. We too have loads of ants in our kitchen and much earlier than usual. We bought a trap which did get rid of a lot but now they've moved to a different part of the kitchen.
It's disgusting and we don't know where to put our food anymore.
We have a cat so have to be careful what we use.
Thanks in anticipation!0 -
Got ants back again this year in the kitchen, they always used to stay outside, i am using the nippon liquid, have used it before and its very good. I dont rate the powder stuff its rubbish.0
