claiming JSA and working 5 hours

Hello my partner claims JSA and we get child tax credit and child benefit, i have been offered a bit of work which will be 5 for hours in one day and possibly another day in a few weeks. I really want to do it but i'm wondering if it will mess up my benefits, i will be paid about £10 an hour and possibly travel expenses too. Can i work up to 15 hours a week without having to tell anyone or is that wrong?

As the partner of the claimant you can work up to 24 hours pw. However they will only disregard £10 of your wage and the rest will be deducted from your partner's JSA. As long as you still get JSA it won't affect HB and CTB.

I'd always say yes in case they find out about it and think you're hiding something else. It's not necessary with CTC if it's just small amounts here and there.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0
