Would you buy a haunted house?

Last flat we lived in, had someone OD and die in the shared hallway when I came back from Uni. Newest neighbours who shared the building with us (6 years later) and moved into our old place once we were gone was trying to convince us the place was haunted, despite us having lived there for 6 years! Showed us photos any everything...
Any noises we heard we just put down to living in shared accommodation... and just thought the other neighbours were being paranoid. We were more frightened by dealing with the event at the time and don't think she is haunting the place... but try telling them that! The only computer error is a human one.0 -
True, haunted houses are all in the mind, but there are still some I wouldn't be able to handle...
The address of my childhood home was a little similar to another location which had been the scene of a number of murders where bodies had been buried under floorboards, etc. The case attracted much media attention and I recalled that for a while afterwards letters addressed to The Temple of **** Sect or Cult or other, decorated with scribbled 'satanic' symbols would come through our letter box. Such locations, it seems, attract a macabre fascination amongst certain individuals. Spooked us like anything it did and it wasn't even our house that was involved!!0 -
Well I’m a skeptic who’s yet to be convinced of the existence of ghosts; however, I certainly do believe in ghost experiences.
There are many explanations as to why people have these experiences from the mundane to the complex. Wooden floorboards resonating as a train goes by in the distance can cause things to move or fall off a mantle piece, localised complex magnetic anomalies can induce frightening feelings of being stared at.
On balance, I would buy an allegedly haunted property, as I believe that with proper investigation a rational explanation could be found for the experiences. If the explanation were to be found, the value of the house would increase to normal - a nice profit.
If not, I’d sell it on to another skeptic.
I thought it an interesting idea to save money though: make savings based on other people’s superstitions. Like buying a house numbered 13.0 -
Anybody living in a new build, is there a number 13 in your street? Just curious...The only computer error is a human one.0

Sounds like my husband!!!
Seriously though, I've had some quite strange experiences over the years, just never tried to explain them. Nothing like the "Most Haunted" depiction of terror and macabre mayhem, and certainly nothing to feel afraid of. I'm sure there are things in this world that are beyond explanation - religious experiences, ghost stories etc might well all just be different interpretations of the same things.
Yeah, I'd buy a haunted house, good to have the company! Wonder if you can charge them rent ...0 -
I ain't afraida no ghost!
*whistles Ghostbusters theme overenthusiastically*
I'd be up for a haunted house.. particularly if it kept the purchase price down.. Hey, I might even scare the ghosts off with my singing in the shower..

YES!! (of course with my name!! )
I have lived in two haunted places! The second one the lad before us set fire to his room to get away from it, wasn't a good vibe there but it was okay for a couple of years. I also grew up in a haunted house, very easy to discount as rubbish but when you see people standing there and then they disappear - i've seen it with my own peepers! the lights would have a field day as well, so i'm not scared of the dark because when you're dying for a wee and the lights had a mind of their own you were too busy walking x legged to notice!!!0 -
I'd buy it. I have an open mind (some would say I'm indecisive!), but if it really became a problem you can always get it exorcised.0

Why would a ghost go into Barclays and take cash from the tills? What would it spend this on? If the ghost has to pay rent yes I would buy the house. If its only wasting its money down the offie on spirits forget it!! : :beer:0
