overdraft

My son-in-law is in dispute with a credit card company, He was out of work for 5 months it took 3 months to get them to pay 2 months payments and to get his late payments to his bank cancelled . He has now been in work for 4 months and has payed 4 months payments as he say's the PPI should pay the 3 missing payments, the problem is the bank are putting his payments down as late and charging him, And because of it has reached his overdraft limit of £2,000 he received a letter yesterday informing him that that because of dispute with the credit comp, his overdraft is being withdrawn in 10 days time, If it is not paid off within those 10 days he will incure £14+ a day bank charges untill it is paid. Anyone out there had the same problem We will be greatful for any advice.

  • I suggest you re-post this on the debt free wanabe board, as they are more likely to be able to give you advice about bank charges, threats of overdraft removal and the like.

Personally, I don't see the link between the credit card company and the removal of the overdraft and it makes me think that your son-in-law is not giving you the whole story.

Have you tried getting him to speak to the bank? usually they don't take such drastic action as the removal of credit until there have been a lot of letters back and forth. Sounds like he is in more trouble than he is letting on...

Good luck and I hope the debt free board can help, as all I seem to be doing is asking more questions!!
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.
