Fitting Firewire To Pc

my son would like to buy and connect an audiofire external soundcard to his pc to use as a mini recording studio.problem is his pc does not have a firewire card , there is a port in the front of his pc but nothing at all behind it. it is an inspiron 530. is fitting firewire to it a simple enough task, and cost friendly of course. cheers . he does not want to connect via usb

Belkin make some good PCI FireWire cards, it's a simple task, open up the case, push the card into a spare PCI slot, and either install drivers as per the instructions, or it's just automatically detected.

E.g. the Belkin Belkin FireWire 3-Port PCI Card from Amazon £16

I've added a USB2/FireWire Belkin card to various systems, including Dell Dimension's with no problems at all.

Turn off PC. Open lid, find spare PCI slot and shove card in. Turn on PC and let Windows find and install the drivers.

Aria do a 3 port firewire card for £5.25+VAT so you should be able to find one in a shop under a tenner.

thanks for the help . the os on his pc is vista ,having a job finding a compatible card

I'd be surprised if there are any firewire cards that don't work with Vista. Ignore what it says on the box about supporting everything up to XP.
