Do any of the property websites indicate how long a property has been on the market?

I have noticed that occasionally on rightmove some companies put the date on. I would advise that if you are interested in a property ask the agent. I have found that they always tell you. Or use common sense, for example, we have looked at a number of ex student rentals which have clearly been empty since last summer.

Use property bee, which tracks dates, price changes, description changes, etc. It's great!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

There is a way to work it out on Rightmove; but it is not straightforward, so bear with me.
Do a search on an area for a set time period (in this case Devon for the last 7 days). The address show in your toolbar will be something like:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/action/publicsite.PropertySearch
However, go to page 2 of the search, and the address will change to something like:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/search.rsp?l_up=7&lo_u=61297&lo_t=0&lo_n=Devon&se_c=1&poi_e=27514&poi_n=9256&nh_st=1&stc_s=false&tr_t=buy&pa_n=2&eventsubmit_dosearch=1&initial_search_time=1208532449071&s_tat=false
The part of this that you are interested in is the up=7, which indicates that the search is limited to all properties uploaded in the last 7 days.
What you then need to do, is start with a smallish number, where you know that the property will not show up in a search, and then keep incrementing it until the property shows.
Hope this helps.0
