Record video while streaming.

I have been using mp3mymp3 to record any audio going through my sound card & find it very easy to use - is there a similar program to record video along the same lines?

Firefox Video Download Helper alows you to save most videos on the net. It's a free FireFox add-on.

Unfortunately this add-on does not record streaming video (it downloads from a URL) so doesn't fit the bill like "mp3mymp3" does for audio.
Maybe there just isn't anything like that out there but if there is I'd love to get my hands on it..

There's loads of paid-for examples which might be an avenue to explore for a quality product, but this one seems ok for free:

Note that you'll probably need quite a fast computer to keep up without slowdown.

Also, it only grabs the full screen as far as I can tell, not just the part where the streaming video is being displayed.

This can capture only a specific part of the screen, if you wish.

AutoScreenRecorder works fine for me, and it allows you to select various parts of the screen, not just the entire image.
