Are Nectar Points as good as Tesco Advantage Card Points?

I'm not a Tesco Clubcard holder (yep, i'm the one!) but use my NECTAR all the time. We shop in JS, have a Barclaycard (which is no god now) and sometimes shop in Debenhams. They have bought me the odd good thing in the past 6 years I have had one.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0

I agree that Nectar is not as good, but if you are going to shop at Nectar shops anyway, you might as well collect the points, even if you only use them against your next Sainsbury's shopping.
But there are a few good ways to use your Nectar points. For instance, you can buy discounted tickets for the Eden Project. OK, you might not be going there, but it is the 2nd most visited attraction in the UK, so a lot of MSE'ers probably will go there. The discount isn't huge, but I don't know any other way to get Eden discounts, so worth a look.koru0 -
The best thing to spend Nactar points on is Adams clothing as you get the full £5 value on each one.

You can now spend you Nectar points at CD-WOW via the Nectar web-page. I've got over 3000 giving me about £17 for a DVD with a few points left.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

It's worth changing your address with Nectar from time to time (perhaps to your parents, or friends) as they send you a "welcome to your new house" set of vouchers..... as everyone says though - only worth collecting Nectar points if you shop there anyway. There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
Just thought I'd share my pain. My wife decided to cash in her points for vouchers at the local Sainsburys but didn't do anything with them except put them in a drawer at home. Six months later, I was doing a bit of tidying up and came across them again. Unfortunately on reading the T&Cs, they had expired. SO please if you have vouchers, do something with them. We wasted 4000 points this way....Non omne quod nitet aurum est0

I used to find nectar points quite good, but have just grown more and more frustrated with them. We moved last July to a new area and tried to use our nectar point card in the local Sainsbury and found we couldn't. I rang the helpline and was told you had to buy something in the Sainsbury in our new area and the card would automatically be transferred. They wouldn't change are local store for us.
We don't often shop at Sainsbury, so about 3 months later tried again. Again we got refused. Finally, I rang a few days ago and got this:
If you buy something in the new Sainsbury you can then use the card there after 24 hours. However, if you don't shop at that store for 3 months you then CANNOT use it there again. How stupid is that.
Iv'e also been frustrated by the online offers of Nectar points. 3 sites (AA was one) offered nectar points if you registered with them; I have never recieved any points. Even worse about 2 months ago I did a survey on the nectarcard site itself with offered 100 points if you did it. I have never recieved any points from any of these.
What I have finally done is go to the nectarcard site itself and order 2 vouchers. I'll see if these can be used in my local sainsbury, but don't hold much hope. I can see why Barclaycard recently dropped Nectar points.0
