AUX input on Car Stereo

Hi, I hope this is the correct forum, its kinda techie. I have recently purchased a second hand car with an after market Sony Stereo in it. The stereo has an AUX jack socket on it and I was wondering whether I could buy one of those cheap personal MP3 players and connect the earphone jack socket to the AUX in. Would this work?

yes, so long as whoever installed the Sony in the first place actually connected up the aux inputs when they put the thing in.
I'd borrow anything portable (CD player, walkman, whatever) and test it before you splurge on an mp3 player yourself if I were you.

I just remembered, my sat nav runs off an ipaq that also runs media player. I'll try it with that. Cheers0
