  • Thanks for your comments folks :) was beginning to think I was just being awkward. I'm surely not the first person to have asked Kwik Fit this
Any how hopefully in the future my car will have the good sense to breakdown during normal working hours and nearer to home so there is no need to visit this type of establishment :rotfl:

Sadly main dealers tend not to be set up that way.
True. Like, tenth of an hours labour to put in screenwash, plus cost of screenwash. We just put it in for nothing!

And I'm not a spring chicken so can't distract our customers with the er, attributes you mentioned earlier :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We're a main dealer - we don't charge for screenwash, oil top ups, or labour to fit wiper blades etc...... We don't double-charge labour, we don't charge for wash & vac, collect & deliver service or courtesy car insurance.... We still get treated like !!!!!
ie: lady yesterday - failed MOT because door mirror is smashed - she is 'disgusted' with us because a) she doesn't think that is should fail MOT on a door mirror, (in her opinion) and b) because we don't have one in stock (24 hour wait). If she had told us the mirror was smashed when she booked the car in, we would have been able to order one for her, and been able to tell her that she would need it for MOT! Why do people have to be so obnoxious? And the person she was taking her anger out on is the sweetest, most helpful girl I have worked with in many years....... It saddens me.

i think sh*tfit have a fixed price per job policy. i.e. fitting pads costs x amount everytime regardless of whether it takes five minutes or five hours. i guess as they do parts fitting rather than proper repairs they'll get away with that as they should be able to predict quite easily how long it takes for each part.

when you buy a tin of beans you don't get a breakdown of costs (wholesale cost + warehousing costs + shelf stackers wages + cashiers wages + store rent etc etc...) so why should a company doing a 'retail' style car parts replacement service be any different?

i can see your point tho.
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits
