Painting Cupboard Doors

Saw a programme on TV today (Open House) and they painted the kitchen cupboard doors. Ours could do with a tidy up. They are currently mock wood - presumably some laminate with a wood grain coating.
Has anyone any experience of painting them? Thinking of painting them white, but wondered how well the paint would stick, whether it might end up as a mess.
Thanks

you need to get the proper laminate primer. wickes/BQ etc sell it.
then you can paint the doors in almost any paint. i did mine about 2 yrs ago.
from dark wood to a cream color.
remember to prepare properly ie lots of cleaning/sugar soap, and rubbing down.
ps, you will prob need 2 coats of primer and 2 topcoats for changing to white.Get some gorm.0 -
I have used Japlac on my kitchen doors, which worked nicely, although I know someone who used car paint for a high gloss finish & it looked amazing.0
