What benefits can my mum claim?

Hi
My father passed away on Easter Sunday
, mum is 66 and works part time(12 hours per week, cash in hand) She is only getting £50 odd pounds per week pension, she does have some savings but wants to keep these to one side and not rely on them. Are there any web sites where I can go and find out what else she might be entitled to claiming (we've done the council tax single person one), and what is the maximum amount of savings she can have before they take this into consideration (I know with tax credits is something like more than £3000 savings).
Thanks for any advice regarding this.

Banana Lovers
Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

She can have up to £6000 in savings before it affects means-tested benefits. If she has more than £16000 in savings she will not be entitled to any means-tested benefits.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
