Hi, apologise if this is old news but I have found a way to transfer programs (not files or settings) from my old XP computer to my new Vista computer.
Microsoft have a Beta programme called Easy Transfer Companion available for free download at present. you need to install it on both computers.
You get a message saying it is not supported but all you need to do is change the language options on both computers to US English and away it goes.
Lists all programmes which will transfer and you choose what you want.
I transferred XP Office because I had lost the installation disc and it worked quickly and problem free.
The original program is still on the source computer.
Change language options back afterwards.
I did it wirelessly but you can use a cable.
