Manchester Terminal 2

Was going to book a lounge for Monday, we fly at 10.20am but dont want to get caught in rush hour, so will leave early.

But just seen this on the loungepass website:

Manchester T2 Servisair and The Styal Lounge Hours are temporarily restricted to 11:00 - 20:30 & Children under 8 years will not be admitted (although bookings made before 4th october will be honoured)

any ideas?

How long before your flight are you supposed to be there, and what time were you thinking of arriving early at

IMHO, the main benefit of the lounges is a free alcoholic drink. Now personally, I would not want one of those at 5.30am:rotfl:

Terminal 2 at Manchester is actually a very spacious area and not usually all that busy. You can easily find a spot away from the crowds.

What are you actually hoping to gain from paying extra to go into a lounge?

Depending on what direction you're traveling from I'd say don't bother with the lounge and just aim to be there the 2-3 hours before your flight
  • i can understand why someone wants to use a lounge before a flight. if it's not available have you thought about using the money instead towards a night in a hotel before your flight .....this would take away the stress of worrying about allowing all those extra hours to get there

I don't like airports (dirty, boring places with people in shell suits - since when did they still make shell suits?!!!!!!!), and I'll be at T2 on Thursday morning ...

Problem with T2 is that there isn't even a nice restaurant. Looks like I'll be spending my morning in Starbucks, or getting smashed before take off ... :p

ahhhh. not recommended!! i did that once (flying edi-man) and i was constantly in need of the toilets after i downed my final pint when they called my name to the gate for final boarding call.... never a good thing when you're on the plane, sitting down, feeling the vibrations coming from the engines of the aircraft, and the 'fasten seatbelt sign' growing at you. needless to say, i dis-obeyed the sign and nipped to the loo just before the aircraft started taxiing...!!

anyway what sorta alcohol do you get in the lounge for free??? never been in one... maybe i should - free drinks might pay for the lounge itself!!

I only drink shorts, so don't tend to have the 'toilet' problem!!!

The lounges vary, but tend to be very good for spirits. Beer etc tends to be in smaller cans, but you can take as many as you want (I usually stock up on soft drinks for the plane too!).

The best lounge I have been in for amenities is the Virgin Clubhouse at LHR (before it was expanded, so only £30 for entry) ... anything you wanted, they would get ... all sorts of hot and cold food, drinks (including premium spirits, cocktails, champagne etc), and they'll even ring Thomas Pink to get shirts delivered to your chair ... it was like a little holiday in itself!

The best lounge for decor and comfort was in the Maldives. Big leather settees and less than ten people in the place ... but no alcohol! x
