Hello,
I am son to be first time mum and never claimed any benefits in my life - now wondering if my niavety has led to missing out...
Is everyone entitled to child benefit? & does it start as soon as baby is born?
I had a look at the 'entitled to' calculator to work out if come my maternity leave and lower salary we would be entitled to any benefits but not knowing exactly what i will be receiving maternity wise it's so hard to calculate ahead for the yr!! Confused!!
Help:rolleyes:

Are you single or live with partner?
Do you(both) work?
How many hours per week?
Previous year income? Current year income would be helpful (I think SMP is around £117 p/w if you qualify for it)
Try to give as much info as possible and either myself or someone else could try to help work out what you could claim.
Child Benefit is not means tested so you would be entitled to it straight away but you need to claim it, register the baby as soon as you can as you will need the birth certificate to claim it
Child and Working Tax Credit is means tested, you could also apply for this but how much you would be entitled to is dependant on the household income and employment status.0
