Hello, you will need to go to the options tab on your dashboard and go to "initial setup" which there you can change the region for good.

As you or someone else who set up the 360 just kept it at the generic american settings.

I'll have a look on my 360 over the weekend.

    Cheers

Hi dreemgirl. I have the same problem, but you're not going to like my answer:

There's nothing you can do about it.

The live account picks up your location from your passport when you set up the account and it can't be changed thereafter - if you have a US passport account (which some people speculate has been set automatically for some people), this gets picked up and there's no way you can change it. I've spoken to MS for a total of about 6 hours about it, there's nothing they can do. Sent them emails etc etc. There genuinely is nothing can be done about it.

The best they'll tell you (unbelievably) is "do you have a friend in america that can send you pre-paid cards"

You have two principle options how to continue:

    1) Completely write off your account, your gamertag, any gamerpoints on it, things you've downloaded, friends list etc. Make a new UK passport account and re-register that one under a different name.
(editted to add - changing the passport associated with the account doesn't help, either)

    2) Just stick with the US one. You can buy US codes for renewals and gamerpoints on ebay (which get emailed to you, so quite quick and easy - work out about 40% cheaper than the UK ones, too).

You can also set up another UK Silver account to buy stuff on. (but this doesn't help with renewals) So you buy it on your UK account, save it to disk, then switch back to the US account to use it. It's awkward, but the only way to do it.

It's a genuine flaw in xbox live, this, you just can't EVER move countries and keep the same gamertag.

I wouldnt even bother trying to speak to MS about it - when I rang, they seemed to know a lot less about it than I do :(

You can change your hotmail account, sure (don't need to call them - can just do it online) - but can't do the same with your live account.

Once you register your account, it looks for your passport region, uses that and then fixes it.

Once you've registered your live account, you can change your hotmail region all you want, makes no difference.

    Hi,
I've had a look, you can change your console region by going to:
    -Xbox Dashboard
    -System
    -Console Settings
-Locale - then change it to the country you wish.

    If this doesn't work...
press the middle "X"box button on the control between "back" and "start" which should bring up your gamercard. Press "A" and it will show :
view games/edit profile/view rep etc in a menu. Go to "edit profile" then "location" and you can change your gamer card location but this doesnt mean your region on your xbox will be changed but people viewing your gamer card will know where you are from

Otherwiseeeeeeeeeeeeee... www.xbox.com/support and there should be a freephone number to call
