Epson R300 Ink Pads

I have just had the message come up on my Epson Stylus Photo R300 Printer to say that parts in the printer are near the end of their life. My printer has now locked up and will not print at all. I have downloaded the SSC Utility to reset the counters but the utility says that it cannot do that on my printer. It says to freeze the ink counter - this won't work either as the printer has locked out.
Can anybody help please.

only advice i could think of would be ssc (works on my r200), and clean the ink pad (running water)
Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.
  • press and hold the following 3 buttons
    stop, power &
Maintenance (the one with red light over)
    for 10 seconds
a message will appear on the screen
counter is reset and turn off
turn back on and it should work

Now I have to clean the ink pads.

And lo and behold, it did ! Many thanks - now I have to find where the ink pads are, and how to clean them . . . my local PC World Tech Guy told me (for the same problem with my old printer, a Photo 790) that it was easily done using a bit of old tee shirt ! But then I changed to Vista, and the printer would not work anyway . . . :j
