Hi
I'm on incapacity benefit but its review time again for me, and I'm filling in the ib50 form. I sufffer from panic attacks social phobia and have also poor eyesight and artharitis in my knees. To be honest filling in the form and then waiting for the reply to decide whether I have to go to a medical or not is nerve-wrkecking but its something we all have to do.
I saw a site on internet called
http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/
which states that they can give a lot of advice to people who are on incapacity and other benefits but they charge £16.50. I think I read on this site before that its defeniately worth joining but I am not sure if its the same site.
Just wondered what anyone with experience of that site thinks?

Yes, I think it is well spent, I have paid the £16.50 twice(over two years). They genuinely want to help people get the disability benefits they are entitled to, and I think their guides are fantastic. If there is any way you can scrape the £16.50 I would certainly do so, the first time I paid the £16.50 I was on £59 IB weekly, and I ummed and aahhed about it, but I'm glad I did. I'm using their guides to reapply for DLA.0

I am not a member of the site but I have read information from it posted elsewhere. It is run by a qualified Welfare Rights Adviser and I have heard that the guides are good. It has been mentioned here before and the feedback was good. I would add that unless you are in an exempt group for IB it is quite likely that you will have a medical whatever you write on the form.0

yes its well worth the money,i was a member for a year a while back and got some very good advice for the £16-50(which i believe is going up at the end of april),they have excellent fact sheets on dla and ib50,which are worth the money alone, you may also want to take a look at
Youreable.com | Benefits which is simlar but free and has an excellent benefits forum, with some very helpful moderators
good luck btw with your ib50

Yes I would also agree that it is well worth the money. I joined last year after being refused DLA even at a tribunal and with the help of a WRO. I put in a fresh claim using their guide to completing the DLA form and was immediately awarded HRM and HRC and that was without the help of a WRO so I would agree with others here that it is a great site.Sometimes a smile is just a mask covering the pain0

Hi again,
Thanks for replies everybody. Well I think I will send away my 1b50 form as I have it almost filled in (have to get a med4 from my doctor though even though I have been on incapacity benefit for long time they want one back with form)
If they decide to call me for a medical then I will join the benefitsandwork site. I was looking though the initial advice about ib medicals on it and it says,
It will tell members about the following
"the enormous difference the way you travel to the medical can make to the outcome"
intriguing stuff, maybe its a bad idea to travel to a medical on a bus
thanks again

Search the net and you will find the guides from that site.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

I've not come across this site, but just wish to say thanks to the original poster and repliers! It's my personal hope this may help me, while I still have the £16.50 to be able to pay!kind regards,

Has anyone recently subscribed to the benefitsandwork.co.uk website?
I'm just a little concerned that some of the links are broken on the front end of the site which is available to everyone so don't want to waste almost £20 subscribing only to find the same thing on the members' side.
Is the site still being maintained and producing up-to-date guidelines for completing DLA forms?
Thanks“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I have joined in the past. But, I think the advice on this board is much better. I found the forum on the benefits site pretty poor. This board is used by some people who can give very good advice. I had a quick shuftie & I think its now £18.50 to join? The information is on the net (for free), you just have to search a little. I have a recognised condition (which is good or bad how you look at it) - I have concerns about a 'formula' for applying/renewing DLA. Surely the people who read the applications recognise those who trot out the standard responses? I think you have to be honest about yourself, and your own words & honesty are still best.
From The Benefits site:-
What does it cost?
A subscription costs just £18.95 for a full year.0
