Hello everyone,
Although i have been browsing this site for some time, this is my first post!
We are going on a cheapie holiday via Sunbreaks to the Costa Del Sol, and today we found out that we will be staying at Las Farolas.
We are not hiring a car, and will be getting the train from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola where i beleive we can get a bus that goes past the resort - has anyone stayed here before?
If so can you tell me what bus to catch, and where to get off? I have looked at other threads and sites, however most people have stayed in another resort (Marina Del Sol), and there isnt much information on Las Farolos.
Thanks, Tannie

Welcome Tannie:)
We stayed at Las Farolas about 8 or 9 years ago as part of a timeshare exchange. I can't help you on bus info as we hired a car as was recommended by the the timeshare exchange company, RCI. It was invaluable as the resort is a few miles outside Fuengirola. You can hire cars cheaply at the likes of http://www.carjet.com/
If a bus is a must, the best you will get is dropped at the road end, just beside the main coast road (E7). From there it is up a very, very steep hill, perhaps 200 yards. No problem walking down, but walking up........
The resort is pretty much OK. OK pool and on site bar/restaurant. Small kids play area. No AC, but the kitchen was full (including washing machine).
Have a great time.0 -
Thankyou for your reply, we have decided to make it a proper chill out holiday and not really go visiting places, hence the decision to not hire a car.
Apparently a taxi is quite expensive and having read peoples reviews on Marina Del Sol then the bus seemed like a good option. Do you know where Marina Del Sol is? Is is between Fuengirola and Las Farolas - or in the other direction entirely?

Hi,
When you exit the railway station at Fuengerola, keep the roundabout to your left and cross the road,go about twenty yards and you will come to the bus stops on the left. There are usually one or two buses parked there.Go round the corner to the ticket office and ask for Las Farolas.Buses are about every thirty minutes.Ask the driver to tell you when you are there.its about the next stop after the lighthouse(el faro) which you cant miss as its on a sharp bend.Hope this helps a bit.More help from google maps is probably advisable0 -

Ah......I see:)
Yes, Marina del Sol is between Fuengirola and Las Farolas, on the same side of the road. There would be no more than 1 mile or so between the resorts IIRC.
I recall a narrow one way road at the resort's road end, running parralel to the E7 and only separated from that dual carriageway by a few yards....it leads on to the E7 heading south. On that road was a pharmacist and a Chinese restaurant. This road had, I think (memory going, getting old:o) a bus stop.....it would be the logical place for a bus stop to be, heading south from Fuengirola. Heading the other way, I seem to recall one or two inlets from the E7, on the other side of this dual carriageway, where a bus could stop. I don't think it would be too much of a walk to the road end.
Good tip from beechville96.....we used that lighthouse as a marker in the earlier days of our holiday.
Having just done a google search, typing in "bus to Las Farolas" I came across several informative links, this one being particularly relevant http://www.gomarbella.com/costadelsolbuses/malaga-airport-to-mijas-costa-club-la-costa-at-las-farolas-royale.htm0 -
Just returned from the Las Farolas, taxi from airport is 45 euros on return you can book on a coach leaving the resort at 7 euros per person. The coach leaves 9 am in the morning and 5 pm in the evening.
Went to Fuengirola by bus (Blueline 220/320) 1.15 euros but had to wait for 45 minutes for a bus even though they were supposed to run every 20 minutes. The same bus will also take you to La Calla, next town, we walked to it by beach and Marbella.More0
