Possible virus?

I just downloaded flash via a proxy site (don't ask why plz). After that my Google toolbar stopped working and everytime I hover over a hyperlink, a small rectangular box appears just under the cursor. I just did a system restore and no change. My AV is up-to-date (ESET smart). Any ideas anyone?

Try removing the flash update via the add/remove programs to see if it resolves your problem.

Then download it direct from the adobe site.

yep. No joy. My AV should have stopped any virus so I'm thinking it may be malaware etc, any recomms on something that might deal with this (assuming it is that)

Problem sorted thanks to the malaware sticky!

Now, the reason I had all the trouble in the first place:

I want to watch the live stream of Battlestar Galactica tomorrow and you can't unless you're in the US so I thought a proxy might do it. Any suggestions for one that doesn't bombard me with malaware?
