Wanted: Contractor to remove external wall coating

Hi
Finally got it confirmed that the external wall coating on my house ( a reddish, cement like, knobbly texture) is causing damp on the external wall.
Basically, it has cracked and water has seeped in and is trapped in the wall.
I've been looking online for a contractor to strip it off as the company that put it in 10 years ago has gone bust (checked on companies house, the company has been dissolved), so the 15 year gaurantee is worthless.
I've been advised chemical stripping would be best as mechanical stripping will result in porous bricks, making the problem worse.
Does anyone know where I can get a company (or three) to give me a fixed quote ? I've gone cross-eyed googling for one

Sounds like roughcast?
Can't help with the contractor but I think I may have a similar problem - did you use a specialist or a surveyor to confirm this?
I had black mould appear both upstairs and downstairs on the rear and side walls

If it's really loose, can you not do it yourself??
We had similar thing, admitidly only a small rear wall, on the office, but I did it in no time.
& even re-rendered it - now that IS rough cast!!
If you need someone, I'd have thought that whever re-surfaces it would also prepare the complete job.
If you're not a million miles from me, Herts/Beds, I'll gladly suggest the plasterers who did most of our house.
Just ask!!

irnbru: Yeah, called a really lovely guy in Manchester who confirmed it for me. Also had a new neighbour who is a surveyor. He took a good look for me and confirmed that was the cause. Nice it was free

vansboy: its not loose everywhere and its all over the flipping house  not really a DIY job to be honest
Shame Im in Bolton, but thanks for the offer
