Taking tumble dryer apart?

Sounds like a silly question but does anyone know how you get into a creda TVR2 tumble dryer to change the belt?
Where do I start? - back doesn't seem to want to come off and everywhere I start seems to point to needing to take something else off first! I think it was designed to make me buy a new one rather than fix my old one:mad:
Any ideas gratefully received.

Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...

If it's a front-loader, try workign from the top down. there may be some screws at the back around the top. Then try and slide the entire top in all directions. It should come off. If you are lucky there will be a service sticker inside the top saying how to change the belt. If that doesn't help, I'm at a loss.£8k to pay off before Jan 2011! Was 28k to pay off by Jan 2010 though so I'm happy

Thanks for help.
No service sticker though. Got really excited about that and ran upstairs to have a look but no such luck!Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -
Some of these dryers are an absolute pig to get into, you almost have to strip the things to put a stupid belt on. Then you find that it's one of those new stretch belts that appear too small which you need three hands to fit.
Usually it's a back off job.

Mrs P did you ever figure it out ? I have the exact same problem. Have removed the top but the back wont budge. There seem to be 3 sets of screws. One I am guessing holds a spindle (or something on which drum rests) onto some back housing. A second set seems to hold the housing thing onto the back panel. A third set seems to hold the back onto the sides. I'v tried each set on its ownand nothing doing. Am worried that if I do the whole lot or force it the sides will fall outwards and the whole thing will just fall into bits LOL and I will never get it back together. Hubby says I may as well do this as I have nothing to lose! Other option is to get a man in (as my Mum out it) but I wouldnt even know who to call.
Would be interested to know if you got anywhere with it, or if you got a man in, then what did he do
Cheers

Ah.
I just found this on the internet. Not looking good
"Replacing the belt is a major task on most machines, it usually needs all the casework removed, and both top cross-members, and you will need to support the drum on something as the bearing will have to be slid away from the rear spindle. The main motor may well have to be unscrewed too, if a single motor design, as the brackets are usually in the way. If you DO have to pull any spade terminals off anywhere, make a note of where they go (or better still take a few shots with a good digital camera). Replacement is the reverse of the removal procedure, as they often say in car manuals....."
I think I will think about just getting a new one, Mine is 12 years old anyway so its had a good innings I guess
