Please can someone help me. I'm new to computers and feel very out of my depth.
I was told the Freecycle web site was very good for disposing of unwanted things locally but when I logged on it said you had to have a Yahoo E-Mail address. I followed the prompts and did that but now I'm concerned, will I have to pay Yahoo for this or will I be charged by my ISP. I couldn't find any information about charging on their site and I wasn't asked for any personal information.
Also would I be able to use this address for anything or just for Freecycle.
Sorry to be a pain but I'm very confused I thought all E-Mail addresses were set through your ISP.

SNAP & SNAP.
I have various email accounts. One being yahoo, but for some odd reason I can't receive Martins Newsletters to it, so I set up one especially for him and his NL's and that's with google. Several hotmail accounts serve their purpose too. None require payment. Oh, what I would do if I were you, is to keep a notepad by your computer and every time you join / subscribe to anything, you make a note of your user name and password, as in MSE = islandman & ******* that way you will be less likely to get locked out. Sometimes gremlins require you log-in, even though you ticked the little box that states you will be kept logged in.
As for Freecycle, no payment is required there either. I belong to two, my local one and one on the south coast, I keep an eye open for anything I think my son might like and tip him off as he lives away.
I'm not technical but I have a few years behind me surfing and learning and making mistakes and have learned a few things. Don't be afraid to ask anything. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You're not alone there, it's regularly recommended here that your email is NOT from your isp.
If you should fall out with your isp you then have an independent address and one less reason to be tied in to them.
The thought of having to inform everyone about an email change, in some cases can be a reason to stick with a poor isp.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
The email address from your ISP will only be accessible when you are at home. Yahoo and others mentioned eg. are web based. This means that you can access them from any computer by putting in your password which is useful if you are away from home.Torgwen..........

Not quite, my main email address is neither web based nor with an ISP.

Hellooo! I was the Freecycler on 'It Pays to Watch' a few weeks ago...
You don't ever have to use your Yahoo email address ever again (I don't, I've got my own address as per Superscaper's format) - it's purely to set up your account.
Once you've signed up to Freecycle, you can enter your normal email address (or a separate one if you prefer), and everything will work as normal for free.
Enjoy

Most ISPs have a webmail service from their homepage so you can access your ISP email account from anywhere too...0 -
Just looked at mine and though it says service is available it doesn't tell you how to get it. I'm not phoning customer services as when I set up the account the communication was difficult and very costly! Most ISPs have a webmail service from their homepage so you can access your ISP email account from anywhere too...Torgwen..........
