Chemdry Don't Like Questions

Whether this is the attitude of an individual franchise or company policy (I suspect the latter) my request for a quote from Chemdry has been rejected because the owner thought I would be "a difficult customer". Asked what he meant, he said that I had asked his office questions about insurance, the age of the machines and the experience of the technicians; which, to him, suggested I was going to cause trouble. This flies in the face of consumer advice which says that you should ask these kinds of questions before having any repair or serious piece of work carried out on your house
I said that I didn't want to risk damaging 40 square metres of decent carpet, so my questions were perfectly reasonable - wouldn't he ask the same questions? "No," he said, "I would get a recommendation." "And still ask no questions?" I said. "No, the recommendation would be enough." "In which case," I said, "that sounds very naive of you."
Needless to say I will not be using Chemdry, as it really does appear that they have something to hide.
Anyone else feel the same?

I always use Chemdry. I couldn't give a monkey's about the age of the machines. Age is no determinant of how well a job will be carried out..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Just as an update, in this case the person in question runs Chemdry Essex, and is universally hated by all the other franchisees in the area for trying to shut them down and corner the market.
I'm so glad I asked difficult questions: I wouldn't want to give him my business.0 -

Hmm - you seem to have a lot of information about this subject, I assume you have spoken to "all the other franchisees in the area" and they all freely gave you this information !!0 -
Odd, I wonder why the two responses were so defensive.0

Odd, I wonder why someone with 3 posts and only on this subject badmouths a business and says that every other Chemdry franchise in the area hate them as well, as moonrakerz says "how do you know this"
look at it this way, you could be one of his franchise competitors trying to cost him busines (i'm not saying you are, only stating what could be)0 -
I didn't notice this last post: I spoke to 2 other franchises (different operators) who both said the same but didn't mention each other as being bad.
As it happens I had the work done excellently by another franchise for about half the price of Chemdry Essex, so it looks as though it is a franchise issue. As for me working for Chemdry - I would rather my carpets didn't need cleaning at all but as they hadn't been done for 5 years I had little choice: not exactly the attitude of a Chemdry person.0 -
interesting you said you got it done for half the price of Chemdry, considering you had your request for a quote rejected!0

I know this is a old thread, but just to wrap it up - the work was done for half the price of Chemdry Essex by another Chemdry in the area, who were excellent (I won't give their name so I can't be accused of advertising for them).
The moral is this is that not all Chemdry franchises are the same, and the one with the largest advert isn't necessarily the best.0
