Best tariffs for new customers only??

I have just done a comparison for dual fuel on the major sites. They all list N-power in first position for me with their Sign online 10 scheme, claiming this will save me £169. I am on N-power's Sign online 4 scheme but reading the small print, the new scheme is for new customers only. Is the only option to move to British Gas (next on the list) and then possibly come back at a later date? B.G gets such bad reviews here and elsewhere. Any ideas?

This tactic isn't mentioned in ML's article. Is it common practice?

Same thing happened to me - I just phoned up npower and said i wanted to change to sign online 10 and gave them a reading and woman said no problem. haven't got the paperwork through to confirm it yet, but why not give it a go?

I'd say NPower get worse reviews!
