i've bought them frim asda they are hard corn kernals I find them in the bit that sells the asian spices and jerk beef usually opposite the chinese sauces and pasta sauces. There is a recipe on the back for a sweet coating for after you have popped it. Which is nice!
  • Anyone know where I can buy them reasonably? I love popcorn and have just invested in a popcorn maker as im fed up of paying the price of microwave popcorn but im not really sure where the kernels can be brought from.

Most supermarkets. Don't buy the stuff in paper bags (Rickenbacker) - loads of gooey fat!

Julian Graves Ltd, if you have one local. I wait until their half price days and stock with these and dried fruit etc, Otherwise Asda and Sainsburys are not too bad, and deffinitely cheaper than buying prepacked.

as with most bulk pulses / seeds etc any Asian supermarket will be loads cheaper.
  • Thanks for the replies, will have to scout around town on my next day off. I was looking at the seasonings on ebay but it looks like you can only import them so that was a bit disappointing.

    Hi Wolfsbane,

I've added your thread to the main 'where to find popcorn kernels thread to keep the ideas together.

This thread may help with the flavourings:

  • I found popping corn in M&S today while buying my 20% off wine :)
Think it was 99p for a 500g bag. Made some tonight. :)
M&S have a seasonings section with quite a lot of stuff marked as new, so I assume they didn't have it before - stuff like creamed coconut, star anise, ketchap manis, etc (well Edinburgh Princes Street one does anyway). Will be useful for those recipes with obscure ingredients.

Tried the 2 biggest supermarkets within waling distance of me (Waitrose and Tesco) and surprisingly neither of them had popping corn. Thought at least Waitrose would. Didn't think of Julian Graves - will go there when (/if!) I run out.
