in Credit cards
OK hopefully someone can help me out here, i used to have a Barclay card about 10 years ago. I was having trouble paying it of so agreed to pay so much a month. Now not long after this i stopped paying as i went away. I totally forgot about this until today when Goldfish CC have just sent me a letter telling me Barclay card will be taking over the CC.
Now this has made me think that i might get problems now with Barclay card on the money i owed them, I've never had problems getting credit and have a mortgage, so the old CC non payments has never come up, I've also been reading that after 6 years there's not a lot they can do, is this right?
Thanks

If you don't pay your debts and then move away; if you then obtain credit for something else they can track you down and chase payment.
In your case it looks like they have maybe written the debt off considering the length of time; or perhaps they have sold the debt on.
Only time will tell im afraid. Just hold tight and see.0 -
The creditcard debt will be statute barred after 6 years from the date of last payment or written acknowledgement of the debt. It would appear that the debt is statute barred (unless barclaycard have been taking money out of your account to put towards the debt?).
The debt will remain, but will not be enforcable so you will be under no obligation to pay. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Yeah but also deny knowing anything about the debt. I am pretty sure that if you acknowledge the debt in writing then they can still chase for payment. Do a search on your credit file and see if there are any judgements from them relating to this matter.0
