I can remember seeing a couple of different programs on Discovery about self build log cabin / house.
I cant remember company names they ordered from but in one a couple from Scotland got a kit from the US and it turned out very well.
Try a search for these programs and take it from there..
I do know a name of a German company that works with wood and glass or metal and glass both of a very high standard called hoof house but its spelt huf hus as a remember.
I hope this is of some help..0 -
Hi,
I purchased my house as a timberframe kit, I bought the frame from timberframe homes in Markethill Co Armagh, they were really helpful, always available on the end of the phone to help. I have some photos of the kit being erected etc, if you want I can send them onto you ?

I used to build timber frame homes many years ago but can't remember the name of the main suppliers, which were in Scotland. They might not even be in business now as that was 20 years ago......lol...What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

Scotsman butts in..... google timberframe kits. Lots of manufacturers in Scotland of traditional house frames, and importers of Canadian/Scanda kits. My folks house was one of the early ones in Scotland, Solway cedar/Colt. Excellent houses, and very well insulated. Most people don't realise that new houses are pretty much all timber frame, we just put up a brick or block "curtain" instead of timber, so it looks traditional. Google the canada/US log homes makers; they are very good, need to find importers tho'. Some Polish timber homes are being imported now, esp to Spain! Cheap, but may not pass all local planning regs. You're local planning constraints are the only thing holding you back! Get out that chain saw, after reading - https://www.ebuild.co.uk/ and https://www.sipltd.com/ and https://www.selfbuildit.co.uk/0
