KwH in new house
Hi wonder if anyone can help. We've been in a new house since septemeber, on Scottish power online energy 4 dual fuel. Usage is all over the place, and i don't have a full years supply data.
I nearly moved to British gas click energy 4 the week before they put the prices up, but cancelled, when they did.
Every time i go on price comparison site, and enter bill data, it either says i'm gonna save nothing, or max £150/annum. And i know these sites are commison led anyway, so not all that accurate.
Being as it takes 9 weeks, for a transfer, and whoever i'm moving too will almost certain change tarrif by the time i move, it seems a lot of effort for such a small annual saving. That's if i get it!!
The fact that all suppliers seem to have different primary and secondary tarrifs, and discount structures only complicates matters.
Is there anyway i can be sure that i'm on the best deal for the year, without a full years usage data. Also allowing for the fact that the usage data that i have so far will be sqewed, cos of the winter, and having the boiler repaired?

You have the dilemma that all new occupants face, of insufficient consumption data.
After 7 months in the house, you can make a pretty good estimate of your annual consumption and feed that in to the comparison sites.
However as you rightly point out, that only gives you an estimate for the year ahead at current prices.
Guessing which tariff is correct is like nailing a blancmange to a moving target.0 -
