If you finish work when your little one is born, you will almost certainly get wtc on your OHs income of £14500.

We were also exempt from NHS charges on that income, but with two children, so I'm not sure if the level is lower if you only have the one.

You will get more than the basic element of ctc too, so may be able to claim the maternity grant. You only have so long after the birth to claim it though, and you will presumably still be receiving maternity pay then? I don't know if they will take that into account or not. Best bet is to claim anyway and see what happens - doesn't cost to try.

If you go back to work at your current rate, you will get the basic element of ctc only. However, you woudl probably get help with childcare too.
