Buying camcorder from States

Hi,

I am looking to buy a camcorder from the US during a visit. Will i beable to use it in the UK without issue.

I am looking at the HD camcorders and understandthey do not have an issue with NTSC/PAL however will there be issues on frequency?

Ref power, will i need a transformer or just a normal adaptor plug?

Thanks!
Filiss

main thing would be warranty, unless you ensured you bought a full international warranty at the time of purchase.

If the transformer, or actual item is dual voltage (and a great deal of electronic products are) you'll just need a UK lead, or just a US to UK plug adapter. Check when you are looking in the US, if the input is stated as 100-240V you'll be fine.

I don't know regarding the picture/frequency question, you might find more advice on https://www.avforums.com

The other main issue is the revenue getting their mits on the thing as you bring it into the country.

make sure you have your story straight when asked, "did you buy this in the US?".
A box and a receipt are give aways.

they'll want VAT and excise duty.

Post the empty box and or receipt home to you, and carry the device in a case, just like you took it out there, they can't prove otherwise, and to be honest (and backed up by interviews in broadsheets), they have bigger fish to fry.
