I've just found the March 2008 figures for the Retail Price Index. It was 3.8% which will be the rate of the student loan for 08/09.
Not bad compared to last year's rate but not as low as it was the previous year.

Hi,
I've just had my student loan notification letter to sign for next year and i am being loaned £4,000+ not the usual $3,000+ ??? i don't get any grants or help with the loan and next year i am going abroad for my third, sandwich, year but i didn't think that i got more loan money for that. Is this a rise for inflation? I don't really want to leave uni with more of a debt than i have to. I guess I should try to save some. Is that going to happen?0 -
Did you not fill in a form when applying? It usually asks how much you want to apply for. I am sure if you ring them up you maybe able to change it, not sure though.0

Wow 3.8 instead of 4.8. My loan will only go up by about £150 instead of £224 ish after I've paid my monthly amounts.
It is all relative. After this year it will only be 23 years until it is wiped
