Does anyone know of companies that will consider those with genetic illness(myotonic dystrophy) for life insurance, wifes cover lapsed when we cashed in endowment but before we could take out any other insurance she had to have a genetic test due to a relative having this, the result was positive and Halifax have turned her down now we will have to answer the have you ever been refused question as yes and I can't see anyone insuring her.

Go to an IFA or whole of market protection advisor and give them the info. They will do the searches for you before placing the application. IFAs/prot advisors can ring up the underwriters directly and ask them if they will accept it and on what terms.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I would phone the Muscular Dystrophy campaign, see http://www.muscular-dystrophy.org/ for details.
You can be sure that other people have had this question before, and support organisations sometimes have special arrangements with 'understanding' insurers. Sometimes hospital clinics may also be able to point you in the correct direction.
Of course, this is in addition to getting a quote from an IFA.0
