Changing Direct Debit Dates

does anyone know if you can ask (or if its legal) if companies providing a direct debit payment service can change it? I have various dates throughout the month where money is taken and I would like to pull these together on or around the same date each month.
thanks in advance.

This is possible - I have asked mobile phone company, car insurance and ISP to move the date of DDs.
Good thing is makes managing money a bit easier - bad thing is the huge dip in bank balance on the same day!!The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.0 -
It's legal for you to ask.
They don't have to agree but many will.
DON'T ask your bank to do anything - they have absolutely no control over the dates payment requests are submitted0 -
And don't bring the DD dates too close to the date you're paid. Too many posts on here from people with problems where DDs / salary hasn't quite worked to the scheduled dates ..... in particular across long holiday periods. Best to give it a bit of toleranceIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

You can chose a date when setting them up (usually) but not all companies will change the date once it has been set up. I changed jobs last year which meant that my DD for Orange mobile phone came out 1 day before my new payday. Orange refused point blank to change the date of the DD with the result being that I paid 1 day late every month and incurred a charge for not paying by DD
