Anybody got combined motorbike and car breakdown cover?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to get covered with the same company for both my car and motorbike for breakdown cover?

I'm just trying to simplify life, one card, one payment, etc.

I don't ride my bike much and I'm currently paying for cover through insurance, so I've probably overspent.

Trouble is my motorbike is 25 years old!! :rotfl: You could say I don't go very far, just around town and short journeys, but I don't want to be left sat in the rain!

Thanks

RAC cover, they always bring the tow trailor aswell. However, it's always takes at least 45 minutes as they have to get the bloke to you who has it, or get one of their blokes to go to where it is and collect it.

We have 2 cars and a bike and hubby is with Greenflag as they cover the person rather than a vehicle. It also covers both of us for any vehicle we are travelling in, not just our own cars.

  • Just wondered if you've actually used the greenflag recovery with the bike?

I've only every called out a recovery for a bike once with the AA.

I sat at the side of the road for 2 hours and nothing happened. After which my engine had cooled sufficiently and cleared and decided to start. Absolutely useless.

Are greenflag any better than this?

Fortunately we haven't had to use the Green Flag cover at all so can't comment on their service, sorry. We have it "just in case".

My dad is with the AA and I'm included on his membership (as mum doesn't drive). The AA are really good for car & motorbike cover.

I used to commute to London every day by m/bike (approx 60 miles a day, 5 days a week) and have had my fair share of accidents needing my bike to be towed home  Some due to diesel on the road (now that's one pet hate of mine  ), engine seizing up in fast lane of M1 (thankfully it was 8pm and quiet!), crap car drivers not looking in windows, let alone their mirrors, then causing accident and driving away (not all car drivers are crap, just the ones that don't look around them ;) ). The AA have always come out quickly and the patrol vehicle would usually be a truck with a tow bar on the back.

If you call them out in central London, they nearly always used to call out a local bike breakdown company (I can't remember what they were called) and they would arrive quickly with a transit type van with someone with specific bike know-how to try and fix the bike on the roadside. If they couldn't get you back on the road, they would transport the bike in the back (with the bike fixed with straps).

As I don't ride as many miles on my bike now, I haven't needed to call out the AA for ages :D (touch wood!).

    HTH a bit.

Carole Nash do a combined insurance policy that covers bike and car and this includes breakdown insurance for both. I found this cheaper than getting insurance elsewhere and then buying separate breakdown cover,

Joint RAC cover for me and the wife paid for with Tesco clubcard vouchers. It covers either of us in any vehicle we are travelling in whether or not we own it. We have one car and two bikes at home. One bike is relatively new, the other is 26 years old.

So what bike do you have?
