Having just come across this thread,

I'm appauled at the negative responses...

To me, this Show has provided me with an awful lot of entertainment & very useful information.
    I think Martin & Ruth are a supurb combo...

As Martin said. How would we all feel with just Martins chat! Ruth is lovely!

As much as I admire Him as a person who wishes to see us all get out of trouble financially, I also admire him with His honesy & dedication to help us all...
Why the bloomin heck are you all knocking this superb Programme...

We've all saved a fortune thanks to Martin...

Where is your gratitude Folks???

To be fair to everybody who has voiced criticism on this thread, it has been constructive criticism. The format of the programme isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea and they are giving valid feedback to Martin and Ruth.

I'm sure genuine feedback is more valuable than everybody saying the show is brilliant just because they feel grateful to Martin.

(And I can sympathise because I love the show but my husband refuses to watch it and he's much less tactful than anybody on this thread!! I have to sky-plus it and watch it when he's at work!)

Martins Doll, We are certainly not knocking his programme, but some are simply stating that the format doesn't suit them. I, for one commented on this thread but I have the highest regard for Martin, Ruth and the team who do a super job on the show and on this website, Martin has literally turned my life around for the better, but we are entitled to our opinions on the show.

Life would be boring if we all liked the same thing!

Martin I am sure will take on board comments, positive and negative, and the next run of IPTW will be even better! It just proves how passionate he is when he comes on to this thread and makes such a detailed post, we all at MSE very much appreciate him for doing that considering how busy and in demand he is.

Personally, I prefer his radio 2 slot, but that doesn't suit everyone, its just a shame I can't see him when he is on the radio:D .

I agree Jo, but when I say that I think The Show is brilliant, I really do mean it.
I personally feel that it has made me check certain threads, which I may never have done before, because it has made me realise that I can do certain things, which I may have not really done before.
If I hadn't been given the incentive on the Show, I may never had followed things up.
    Hope that makes sense!!!

I know exactly what you mean. :T

I've been using this site since 2004 and I've learnt new things from the show too and been reminded to sort out stuff that I've never got round to doing! :o

The title of this thread sets the tone - suggests posters will be nit picking and moaning about things they find annoying or niggling. It's a public forum discussing a mass appeal telly program so people will just chuck in their comments - no time or need to balance with comments on what's good (you could write a thesis on that), just off the cuff straight to the point. Far better than those corporate type feedback survey things where everything comes back as being good.

May be another thread suitably entitled for comments on what people like would be in order. Or a thread for balanced feedback.

I believe in the celeb wallet recorded as live Martin doesn't get to see what's inside it until it's handed to him - some preplanning may be better. I think it was the Geoff Cape's one where it ran out of time with little advice about what was actually in the wallet.

I think it would be interesting to watch the first show and the most recent show again- there have been lots of subtle changes over the time which has added up to quite a different programme - it was, and is, as Martin said, a work in progress. It's hard to take a step back and see what others see. It's been said already that IPTW isn't for the web geeks that use this forum, aren't offended when you call them a credit card tart etc. A show like that wouldn't get on the air - there aren't enough of us. When Martin talks about, for example, bank charges - we already know what he's gonna say. Many of us have even already done it. But I still watch.
I think the show is well done, and the extra part adds well to it. Two presenters are essential too, and I think Ruth does a fantastic job. I think the idea of a fast-talking moneysaving geek who has to constantly be reigned in by his co-presenter, and the co-presenter who takes the 'student' role, like the audience, to learn what he is presenting.
Those 'tacky' bits - by definition extra, unnecessary bits that perhaps get in the way, are probably what got the show on TV in the first place, and what get non-moneysaving people watching casually, and if lucky, hooked. And the same goes for the celeb bit. They're getting a little slice of exposure, but they certainly have to work for it, and I think it gives a good escapism for viewers from the real life of the show. It's often the same trick over and over 'do you use a credit card/get a cashback card' and I think Martin sort of acknowledged that with Michael Fish, but the same trick works and theres absolutely nothing wrong with reinforcing that message. Just remember that IPTW is chasing the casual viewer and has to chase the numbers to survive.

I remember Martin has said before that the show's trying to cram about 45 minutes worth of information into a 25 minute (or so) timeslot. The length of the timeslot is dictated (for want of a better word) by five themselves.

The show's coming along and, if we keep feeding back to Martin and the team about what we like and dislike about each show, they can take that on board and (hopefully) be able to put it into future episodes.

I hope that Martin will now have some more leeway with five when it comes time for IPTW season 3 so that the show can include improvements suggested on these boards.

    *now off to lurk again*

Watched it tonight and thought it was more polished, flowed easier and paced more comfortably.

The celeb still got cut off, if a feature runs out of time it would be better to just wind it up and move on rather than utter the words 'we're out of time' - that brings things to an abrupt 'stop what your saying we're no longer interested - thanks for coming'

Throughly agree with this. I posted as I'm sure Martin + five would rather my friends became IPTW viewers rather than switched off mid programme as they struggled with the format.

Sorry if it made hard reading though Martin :o
