Why is the format so "tacky" ?

*no offense intended*
Just watched part of an episode. The content of the show is good but the format looks a bit like Jerry Springer :rotfl:. The whole gameshow type presentation doesn't work for me.

I don't see it as tacky... but 2 words spring to mind.
'prime time'
The format has to be bold and catchy.. and draw people in as well as being entertaining to bring the viewers back.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Parts of the set looks like it was knocked up in a shed - the thing to measure the celebrity savings
Why do they bother inviting a celebrity on the show?
I don't get the point of the celebrity turning up. The celebrity wallet is so rushed there's no meaningful information and often it's cut short.0 -
Martin always speaks to the celebrity on IPTW Extra, now on the web..

I appreciate the intention of the format, imo it fails miserably in that regard. Imo, something a bit more formal/serious would have worked a bit better.
With respect to the celebrities, as a show promoting responsibility, should the show really be promoting the celebrity culture ?0 -
I have to agree unfortunately that the show set seems tacky, almost cheap (very MSE), I don't think it gives the right impression.
I have got to admit though I haven't watch the show for 3 or 4 weeks now, I am learning nothing I can't get from the e-mail, Martin you should hold some things back otherwise the viewing figures will dip and you'll lose out on having a prime time show, you should insert in the weekly email that you should watch the show for more money saving tips instead of putting them all in the email.
Just my thoughts.

I'm afraid I've only watched the show a couple of times because of the way it is delivered.
I agree that the content is great, its just that the format isn't really my cup of tea.
I prefer the MSE website - at least here I don't have people jumping around and almost trying too hard to deliver their message.
I don't want anyone to think that I am being negative, maybe its just a bit too tacky / primetime.0 -

It's uncomfortable viewing ... why's everything got to be done in such a rush?
No need for it to be as its recorded. If the presenters spent less time pratling and shouting they could give more time to each feature.0 -
At least I know it was not just me
. I am glad that this turned into an adult discussion.
