MBNA Cheques?

Hi i just got through i letter which is perfect timing as i need some money transferred to my current a/c to get some extra cash for nexr couple of months just need to know

The MBNA cheques that i got on my a/c they are included in my 0% till Feb 09 yeah? if i just write one out tomorrow and pay it into my current a/c this is will work the same as the balance transfer if i phoned up to ask them to do this for me correct? 3% transfer handling fee yeah?

I just want to make sure i can use this in the 0% promo before i do anything as i dont want to start paying 18% on the balance and will it take the same processing time as if i was paying in another cheque? 3 working days?

Many thanks in advance

Yeah it will work. You can deposit the cheque into your bank account. This will incur a 3% fee as stated in the Terms & Conditions. And yes the interest should be 0%.

You may want to ring them just to re-confirm. There shouldn't be any issue unless they're tricking you.

MBNA can be flexible on their fees for Balance transfers - give them a ring and try and haggle it down, especially if you are transferring a large amount. This is what I have done before.

They seem to send me a wadge of these cheques every couple of months, they go straight in the shredder.

Nobody here can tell you what the specific T&C's of your offer are.

All you can do is to check the rate is 0%, check the fee applicable, and confirm the duration. It seems like you've done all this so barring a 'peace of mind' call to MBNA it sounds like you're all set to go.

However, I think if you check your online area you might find that the same deal is available on (S)BT's, which may be preferable?

Don't forget that MBNA offers always end on a statement date...NOT a payment due date.

One final thing...when I've had these offers before I've contacted MBNA retentions and managed to negotiate a waiving of the fee. Others have had their fee capped, as per their original T&C's, ie £35/50 or so. The number you need is 0800 783 1116.
